King of Kicks presented by Russian Bear, is once again calling all passionate sneaker fans to lace up and put their best kicks forward in the 2017 #kingofkicks competition.
The King of Kicks competition will run over the course of 12 weeks, comprising of 4 categories chosen by our 4 judges. We at The Bizniz Blog has decided to give some insight and background of the Judges which will handling this years competition.
The first judge on the #KingOfKicks247s category, YoungstaCPT is a young, dynamic Wynberg emcee whose sole purpose is to spit dope bars and represent the Cape Town both nationally and abroad. His deep roots in the Cape Town underground hip hop scene, on-point and authentic rhymes and great work ethic have made him the most talked-about rapper in the SA hip hop scene to date.
The judge of the Grails category for King of Kicks has collected sneakers from the tender age of 13, street culture influencer Mark Mac boasts a large collection of sneakers. Having family overseas who frequently sent him limited edition pairs in his early teens sparked his interest in sneaker culture which followed him into his college years and beyond.
Nick Herbert judge of the CLASSICS is the CEO and founder of Shelflife store. Shelflife store began in 2006 based on graffiti culture and streetwear, and has grown to be the number 1 sneaker destination store in South Africa. Besides avidly collecting and wearing sneakers, Nick has been involved actively in the Graffiti and Street art scene in South Africa for the past 19 years and continues to import Montana spray paint products today from Barcelona Spain.
Returning to the #KingofKicks judging panel, in charge of COLOURWAYS is DJ Doowap is an adventurous creative and constantly allows herself to be inspired by her surroundings and enjoys conceptualising new ways of viewing established and growing brands. She inspires people, most notable the youth, through her artistic creations and music.
