Your Days of Indecision is FInally Long Gone!

So you decided to subscribe to Netflix. You always wanted thousands of Series and Movies at your fingertips. You finally caught up with the shows all your friends were talking about way back when. Now what?

Having thousands of Series and Movies on hand is amazing. Technology will never cease to amaze me. But the problem of having so much options is that we suffer from ‘Option Paralysis.’ But fear not, I’ve made a list of the Top 5 Series and Movies available to stream from Netflix right now! These options are based on the list of popular shows in South Africa, narrowed down further to help you.

I hope you find this useful. Happy Watching!

Mindhunter (1 Season-So Far)

Follow Special Agent Holden Ford as he goes from Prison to Prison interviewing Psychopaths and using what he learnt to solve a crime. Engrossing and intelligent. You can read my full-season review HERE.
Final Word: Must Watch

Stranger Things (2 Seasons-So Far)

Travel to the queer town of Hawkins, Indiana and follow a band of misfit preteens trying to save their friend and town from the Upside-down. Intrigue and mild scifi to follow.
Final Word: Cute kids save the world #NuffSaid.

Breaking Bad (5 Seasons-Complete)

Breaking Bad may be the ultimate series for thousands of people. Walter White and his crystal blue meth made sure of it. Follow his life as he goes from meek-tempered high school teacher to something else entirely.
Final Word: You need to watch him Break Bad.

House of Cards (5 Seasons-So Far)

Corrupt Politicians, murder, secret plots and just enough Conspiracy? Sign me up. The critically acclaimed House of Cards is about all of these things, and then some. Follow Frank Underwood as he starts off as the conniving, ambitious Chief Whip of the White House.
Final Word: Must-watch, especially the first 3 seasons.

Daredevil (2 Seasons-So Far)

The masked crusader of Hell’s Kitchen has an Origins story, and it sure is one to tell. Acclaimed for its story-telling and fight-choreography, this one keeps you hooked.
Final Word: Best Superhero series yet.

Pulp Fiction (1994)

One of my personal favourite movies of all time. Starring John Travolta, Uma Thurman and Samuel L Jackson, Bruce Willis, amongst others), Pulp Fiction is a force to be reckoned with. Not only is it a ‘good movie,’ but it is culturally significant as well. One of Quentin Tarantino’s best…just like all of his movies.
Final Word: What? You’re still not watching it? I dare you, I double-dare you (to watch it) MF!

Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, this movie is up there on most ‘greatest movies of all time’ lists. Tim Robbins’ character is jailed and begins a friendship with Morgan Freeman.
Final Word: Brilliant movie, a true classic.

The Lord of the Rings (2001)

Based on the JRR Tolkien book of the same name, this was perhaps one of the few movies that done a book such good justice. The second installment, The Return of the King, won more Academy Awards (11) than any other movie in history. Join Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin) on their quest to destroy the one ring, in the land of Mordor where the shadows lie.
Final word: If you have 10 hours to kill or like fantasy, then this movie trilogy is a must-watch!

Fight Club (2000)

No other movie in history resonated with me the way Fight Club did, and that ending… mind-boggling. The movie is about the narrator (Edward Norton) and soap salesman/all-round badass Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) trying to change the status quo in a seriously explosive way. It is a very anti-establishment movie and, albeit dark and extreme, has a powerful message on consumerism.
Final word: You are not your job, but you might be what you watch, and as such, should watch this movie.

Furious 7 (2015)

Cars, action, girls, exotic locations, Vin Diesel, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Paul Walker…there’s all your reasons to watch this movie right there! Unfortunately, that’s all it has, if you’re one for story and something deeper. However, it is an extremely fun and mind-numbing movie; a perfect way to end a very busy weekend.
Final Word: Action-packed movie from start to finish. Switch off your brain and switch on the tv.
