Shanice Fortuin (26) from Cape Town always dreamt of owning her very own fashion brand, she made her dream a reality and launched her clothing line, The Fashion Lott in November 2015.
After reading the highly anticipated ‘Girlboss’ book by Sophia Amoruso and researching the online e-commerce sector for six years, she knew it was time to launch her online store.
Since then she has never looked back and her clothing has been shipped all over South Africa, though many challenges has arised, she never gave up only peservered and stayed positive. “Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I pray and then read the “Girlboss” book again and I’m instantly motivated and encouraged to pursue all my goals.
In the beginning The Fashion Lott was only known for ‘kimonos’ however today the brand has grown into a full clothing collection that boast not only kimonos but dresses, leggings, pants and tops that caters for women of all shapes and sizes.
The brand is popular known for the uniqueness of stylish fashion mixed with street-style, and her clothing can be dressed up or down. The unique beauty of the brand is that consumers can choose to alter a specific design to accommodate their style, this can be done online or directly at her showroom, something completely different!
Today Shanice, is continuing with releasing fresh, new, stylish and chic styles to indulge the modern woman. “In the near future I plan to branch out to boutiques and grow my showroom and cmt factory. I would love to have everything under one roof, I want to be able to create a shopping experience for my customers that they’ll never forget! One big shopping party! Something for every woman, from fashion, beauty to styling.
My Mom has always been my biggest inspiration, she is one of the most talented people I know, not only is she my mentor, she does everything with style and grace and works extremely hard. Seeing her independence and work ethic inspires me to work harder and continue to better my skill and craft. The biggest joy for me is seeing my clothing designs worn all over South Africa, its truly a feeling I cannot shake to this day, I am filled with thankfulness and appreation.
Encouraging words- “Don’t listen to the noise around you, follow your heart, pray, trust the man upstairs and go for it! Never give up, someone is rooting for you”
