Restaurant REVIEW: The Living Room, Maboneng

Chilling out in Nature...but in the middle of the City. SCORE!

Situated in the vibrant heart of Suburban Johannesburg, The Living Room is Joburg’s premier eco-urban venue in Maboneng.

When I first got there, I was intrigued by its inner channelling of green and love for plants. They believe in the power of plants, saying “our love affair with plants has taken us on a journey of permaculture, Earth building, social and edible planting and guerrilla gardening”. The venue has a rooftop view that shows the entire Johannesburg and displays its magnificent views at night.

It has unique pieces of furniture, with a touch of urban-bohemian feel to it.

Their food menu consisted of light meals and was affordable. As I am a vegetarian, I tried their Couscous Salad with Grilled Vegetables and Halloumi, topped with a Char-grilled Lemon Wedge.  The Mediterrane-yum meal was very light, filled with many flavours, and I will give the meal a 4 out 5. I also had a Botanica cocktail which contained cucumber, amaretto, passion fruit, tequila & soda water.

Super Cool Saturday and Sunday Living Room are two of their popular events that they host monthly. Sunday afternoons have become an establishment for great music and good vibes. This venue is more than just a hangout spot. It is a form of an art exhibition. It offers a great experience for Joburg first-timers who want to see the beautiful side of the city.

If you are looking for a Joburg skyline experience and want to meet new, interesting people, then The Living Room is the perfect spot to hang out. The venue/ hang-out spot also caters for events such as Media and Weddings. They are open Wednesday to Saturday 11:00 am to 22: 00 and Sunday 11:00 to 19:00
