During this hot weather, Your body needs water in order to survive. Every organ, tissue, cell require water to function properly. For example your body uses water to excrete waste, maintain its temperature and lubricate joints.

In today’s episode of Shape Your Life Up, our health and nutrition expert Dineo Lesabe shares with us the importance of staying hydrated at all times, the dangers of dehydration , and why Water is necessary for improving our overall health.

“A glass a day keeps the doctor away”. Although not entirely true, this statement does emphasize the importance of consuming water regularly. The actual amount of water you should be drinking is between 6-8, 250 ml glasses of water a day. However, for some people less than 8 may be enough, and some people require more than 8 glasses. It all boils down to the weight and a height of the person. One way to spot if you might be dehydrated is by checking the color of your urine. If your urine is dark yellow, you may be dehydrated. If your urine is light yellow or colorless, you are well hydrated.

Dangers of dehydration
According to Fitness Freak Ltd, Some symptoms of dehydration include:
• Producing darker urine
• Feeling dizzy
• Fatigue
• Anger/ irritability
• Depression
• Snoring
• Small attention span
• Snoring
• Insomnia
• Cravings for alcohol, tea or coffee
