Zolile Mcelu (born 24 June 1992), known professionally as TSA (pronounced “tee-es- a”), is a South African rapper, singer and songwriter. He has a new single out entitled ‘Chris;’ a fresh, catchy joint, an ode to himself.
The title of the song is reference to the popular comedy show Everybody Hates Chris. TSA borrowed the idea and owned it with his relaxed punchy and witty lines that take you on a journey. His thoughts are effortlessly conveyed. He talks about his affection for this girl, but wonders deep inside her thoughts, about how she survives, because nowadays beautiful girls like her only appear in music videos and get objectified. Talk about ‘the broke and the beautiful.’
The wordplay and scenarios on this one are incredible to say the least. TSA’s calmness on the beat shows you just how comfortable and confident he is.
If you’ve never heard a Jazz band perform, this is what it would sound like. Every instrumental in the song literally has a life of its own, so you definitely feel the drums, the snare, hat, clap, strings and the amazing saxophone when he sings the hook.
This song goes to show that TSA’s style of rap is unique and different from what we’re used to listening to these days. When your ears finally get tired, this is the kind of music that will help you.
